Saturday 25th July – Windsurf *** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Foil – 16.73 knot max, 15.88 knot ave., 7.97 knot hour, 14.70 knot mile, 31.50 km., 12.12 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 6.5m.

Mag went on her early prom walk in lovely sunshine while I drove down to the view, then parked up at The Manor to take a few weather pics which is a bit of a waste of time at weekends but I can’t help myself! Todays forecast was for the wind to increase in the afternoon to a moderate southerly so I had one eye on that while I did my exercises in a hot back garden! As we had fruit bread in bed first thing we actually had cereal for dinner as the wind started to pick up so I decided to load the van and check out The Dip but the carnival procession was in full swing so a lot of roads were blocked off but I made it to the beach in the end and windsurfer Paul was out winging in what looked like marginal winds. The sun was out so I decided to give it a try and set up my 6.5 sail hoping it would be enough, Andrew came down and went out with a 6.5 wing and David Coles on his raceboard and 9.5! I launched into quite a lumpy sea and floundered out for a long way but did get up and flying in the end, in Fact I ended up have 6 nice long runs nearly 2 miles out, I did have to wait for a gust to get flying but once up it was good:) I was out the best part of a couple of hours before the wind went even more patchy so it was time to call it a day. More wind for tomorrow but from the west so might head over to Levington?
